Window

They say when a door is closed, open a window

What do you see from yours, just so?

Peek round the corner, through the blinds

Look towards the sun, and the light finds

Shadows that are illuminated, dirt exhaled

Colour returning to features paled

Let in a stranger, a loved one too

Trust that they’ll treat the room true

Trust that they’ll treasure the delicate glass

Trust that they’ll tread lightly on the grass

Trust that you won’t be left behind in destruction

Trust that you won’t regret the next introduction

Pull back your curtain, tie them out of the way

Until the light of the sun is bleached from the day

Put a hand along the windowsill in the rain

Feel soft drops stinging against the pain

Feel the fog filter in, like the mist inside

Feel worlds different but still similar, collide

Feel the grass outside, if you dare to jump

Feel the fresh air in the blood that continues to pump

The wonder that floods into a room filled with webs

The peace and wind that flows and ebbs

Open the window to your soul, just try

It’s a beautiful experience, low and high.
